Deleting & Unlinking Test Cases in AI Test Case Generator for Azure DevOps

Cleaning up your test environment? The AI Test Case Generator for Azure DevOps makes it easy to unlink or permanently delete test cases to keep your workspace tidy and focused.

How to Unlink a Test Case from a User Story

  1. Go to the Boards page (or Work Items)

  2. Open the relevant User Story

  3. Hover over the test case link in the bottom-right corner — you’ll see an ‘x’ icon

  4. Click the ‘x’ to unlink

  5. Click ‘Save & Close’ to confirm

This removes the link between the test case and user story, but does not delete the test case itself.

How to Permanently Delete a Test Case in Azure DevOps

  1. Navigate to the Queries page

  2. Click ‘New Query’

  3. Set Work Item Type to Test Case

  4. Click ‘Run Query’

  5. Select the test cases you want to delete (use Ctrl or Shift + click)

  6. Right-click and choose ‘Permanently Delete’

  7. Click Reload, re-run the query, and confirm they’re removed

Deleted test cases cannot be recovered, so double-check your selections before confirming.
