Setting Up A/B Tests in Alia

Test different popups, offers, copies, delays, and flows with A/B tests to optimize performance even more.

A/B testing is one of the most powerful tools in Alia—it lets you experiment with different versions of your campaigns to see which one performs best. Whether you're testing pop-up design, delay timing, or educational content, this guide walks you through the full process of setting up an A/B test in just a few steps.

A/B testing allows you to not only compare different versions of your campaigns but also optimize them based on specific user engagement metrics. This ensures your final version aligns perfectly with your campaign goals.

Step 1: Choose Your Campaign

  • Navigate to the Campaigns section in your Alia dashboard.

  • Select the campaign you want to test. For this example, we’ll use a draft popup named “Control” in the campaign “All users”.

Step 2: Add a New Variation for the A/B test

  • Select "Duplicate as draft" from the dropdown next to "Preview" to create a second version of your popup to test against the original.

Step 3: Customize the Variation

  • Choose what you want to test (e.g. pop-up design, educational flow, delay time, etc.).

  • In our example, we’re testing a 5-second delay on the first version and a 10-second delay on the second version.- Modify detailed elements such as the text copy, visuals, or even include extra features like a mini quiz to elevate the experience.

  • Smart trigger can be used to re-engage users who initially dismissed the popup, thereby enhancing engagement.

You now have two flows:

  • Original (5-second delay)

  • Variation (10-second delay)

Step 4: Launch the A/B Test

  • Select Start New A/B Test.

  • Give a title to your test - Time delay test, for example

  • Select Create and Publish to begin the test


How to View Test Results

Once your test is running, you can track results by clicking the View A/B Test Results button in your campaign dashboard.
