This guide will show you how to set up or adjust the time delay trigger for your popup in Alia. Whether you want the popup to show immediately or after a few seconds, here’s how to configure it.

Step 1: Navigate to Your Campaigns Dashboard

Your first step is to access your popup campaigns within the Alia platform.

  1. Start by logging into your Alia dashboard.

  2. On the left-hand navigation menu, click on Campaigns. This is your central hub for managing all your existing popups and creating new ones.

Step 2: Select the Popup to Edit

Once in the Campaigns section, you'll choose which popup's time delay you want to modify.

  1. From your list of campaigns, locate the popup you wish to modify.

  2. Click on the popup to open the popup editor. This will take you directly into the design and settings interface for that specific popup.

Step 3: Access Trigger Settings

Now, we'll dive into the settings that control when your popup appears.

  1. Once in the popup editor, look for the Triggers & Integration Settings panel, usually located on the right side of the screen.

  2. Within this panel, click on the Triggers tab.

  3. If you don't have a trigger already set, click Add Trigger.

  4. From the dropdown menu that appears, select Basic Trigger.

Step 4: Configure the Time Delay

This is where you'll define the specific time delay for your popup.

  1. Under the 'Basic Trigger' settings, you'll see a dropdown for trigger types. Select Time on Page.

  2. A field will appear allowing you to enter the number of seconds you'd like the popup to wait before appearing to your visitors.

  3. By default, the delay timer is set to 5 seconds. You can either stick to 5 seconds or change the time to any duration that best fits your strategy.

💡 If you're running an A/B test and want to adjust the time delay, you'll need to update the timer individually for each popup in the test. Consistency across test variations is crucial for accurate results.

Step 5: Publish Your Changes

The final step is to save and activate your new time delay settings.

  1. After you've set your desired time delay, ensure your changes are saved and activated.

  2. Click the Publish button, typically found in the top right corner of the editor.

  3. Your popup will now appear according to the new time delay settings you've configured.

💡 To understand what works best for your brand, it's a good idea to test different types of triggers alongside time delay—like scroll depth, exit intent, and smart trigger. Combining multiple triggers can significantly improve popup timing and boost conversions.
