Integrating Alia with Klaviyo takes only a few minutes and allows you to sync customer data, automate emails, and enhance marketing efforts. This guide walks you through the step-by-step process of connecting Alia to Klaviyo.
Step 1: Initiate authentication flow
First, open the Alia dashboard, navigate to the Integrations page, and click "Connect" under Klaviyo.
Klaviyo will open. Be sure that you're signed into the correct account, and click "Allow".
Next, choose lists to send Alia subscribers to. If you'd like, you can set a different list for email and SMS subscribers.
If you don't set an SMS list, Alia won't sync phone numbers, and vice versa for email.
Click "Save", and that's it! Alia sign ups and events will now start flowing into Klaviyo.
New: Integrate with Klaviyo WhatsApp
You can now also send SMS signups to use with Klaviyo WhatsApp, by setting the list next to your normal email and SMS ones:
Make sure to speak with your Klaviyo CSM regarding necessary compliance text for WhatsApp, as well as ensuring you're prepared to collect WhatsApp numbers for marketing.
Step 2: Enable single opt-in (recommended)
We strongly recommend enabling single opt-in for your email list so that customers are opted in immediately, rather than needing to accept a confirmation email.
Here’s how:
Click on Settings, then go to Consent.
Ensure the list is set to Single Opt-In. If it's set to double opt-in, update the setting.
💡 When searching for a list in Alia, only ten options will appear. If your list isn’t visible, type its name exactly as it appears in Klaviyo.
Step 3: Configure Advanced Settings (Optional)
General Settings for Klaviyo List Assignment
By default, customer information collected via Alia may be sent to a predefined Klaviyo list. If you'd like to change where this data is directed, follow these steps:
Access the Klaviyo Settings in Alia.
Locate the option for default list assignments.
Choose a new target list from your available Klaviyo lists to direct the customer data.
For example, if your data is currently sent to a "Default Newsletter" list, you can modify the settings to assign it to a specific list that better fits your customer segmentation.
Market-Specific Integration Customizations
For businesses operating in multiple markets, Alia makes it possible to override the default Klaviyo integration settings for individual pop-ups. Here's how you can set this up:
Go to the pop-up editor for the specific market segment (e.g., U.S., Europe).
Find the integration settings specific to the selected pop-up.
Override the default Klaviyo integration by selecting a different Klaviyo account or list appropriate for that market.
This flexibility allows you to tailor your campaigns and customer experience based on geographic segmentation or other criteria. Each pop-up can independently integrate with Klaviyo in a way that aligns with specific business goals.
What’s Next?
Now that your integration is complete, you can start using Alia’s Klaviyo connection to segment users, automate email flows, and enhance customer engagement.
You can also explore advanced settings such as changing default list assignments or customizing integrations for specific markets.
