Creating a Spin-To-Win Popup

Increase engagement and conversion rates by adding an interactive gamified experience to your Alia popups.

Getting Started

Adding a Spin-to-win game is one of the most effective ways to capture emails and boost sales. Within the Alia editor, you can easily integrate this interactive element into any new or existing popup design.

How to Add the Element

There are two primary ways to incorporate a spin-to-win wheel into your campaign:

  1. From Scratch: When you create a new popup, you will be presented with various layout options. Select the Spin-to-win template in the first step of the editor to start with a pre-configured wheel.

  2. To an Existing Popup: If you are already working on a design, click the "+" (Plus) icon in the element sidebar and select Spin-to-win from the dropdown menu.

Note: While you can add multiple elements to a popup, a Spin-to-win element usually performs best when it is the central focus of the step.

Configuring Slices and Logic

Once the element is added, you can customize how the game functions. Alia allows you to control the "luck" factor and the rewards associated with every spin.

  • Slice Count: We generally recommend using 4, 6, or 8 slices for the best visual balance. You can add new slices or delete existing ones using the slices section on the right side of the editor.

  • Probabilities: You can set the winning probability for each individual slice. This allows you to offer high-value prizes with lower odds while keeping common prizes more frequent.

  • Actions: Define what happens when a specific slice wins. Most commonly, this involves triggering a transition to the next step of your popup.

The most common setup for a high-converting popup is a single winner configuration. In this setup, one specific slice is given a 100% probability, ensuring the user "wins" a specific discount and is immediately moved to the next step to claim their code.

Appearance and Styling

To ensure your wheel matches your brand identity, you can customize every visual aspect using the Style Editor located on the right-hand side of the screen when the element is selected.

Colors and Hover States

You can adjust the background color of the slices and the text color to match your site's palette. Alia also supports Hover States. By switching the state from "Default" to "Hovered" in the editor, you can choose different colors that appear when a user moves their mouse over a slice, making the wheel feel more interactive.

Typography

In the Text section of the editor, you have full control over the typography on the wheel. You can modify:

  • Font family and weight.

  • Font size and letter spacing.

  • Text orientation within the slices.

Customizing the Center Hub

The center of the wheel is a customizable container that acts as the "trigger" for the spin. By default, this contains a text element that says "Tap to spin", but you can fully customize this area.

To change the look of the center:

  1. Select the "Tap to spin" element and edit the existing text or delete it as per your requirement.

  2. Select the Container under Spin to win and add a Background Image (like your company logo) or a specific Background Color to make the center hub stand out.

Once you are satisfied with the changes, click publish on the top right to make the changes live.
