Checkpoints let you require that somebody verifies a learner can do something, rather than trusting a completion tick. Useful for practical skills where finishing the module is not the same as being competent. ✅
Who signs off
Sign-off routes through a configurable approval flow, and the approver is set by role. It is not fixed to the learner's line manager.
That matters in practice: you can have a Head Chef sign off kitchen checkpoints across several venues without making them anyone's manager. If your old process assumed manager-only sign-off, this is the change.
Approval flows support multi-step approval — any one approver, all of them, or in sequence.

Where a course includes a learner activity — something the employee submits rather than answers — a supervisor can review the submission. There is also a Training Progress viewer capability for people who need to see progress without editing it.
Why a course still shows incomplete
Two rules catch people out, and neither is about checkpoints:
Course progress counts fully completed modules only. A module at 80% contributes nothing, which is why a learner can insist they finished while the dashboard reads 76%.
A quiz's pass threshold defaults to 100% if you never set one. One wrong answer fails it.
If someone is stuck, check those two before assuming a checkpoint is blocking them.
