Fourkites - Dispatcher updates
Fourkites - Dispatcher updates
Updated over 2 months ago

After integrating with FourKites, Alvys will send location updates based on the schedule you have selected for each customer.

The following information is being sent:

  1. Alvys Customer ID - used by FourKites to identify which customer this load information is to be shared with

  2. Load Order # (will be submitted to FourKites as the “billOfLanding” value)

  3. Load PO # (will be submitted to FourKites as the “loadIdentifier” value)

  4. Last known location Coordinates and City/State/Country

  5. Delivery Status (delivered = true or false)

  6. Delivery time (empty time from the last location)

There are 2 aspects of this integration:

  1. Setting up the FourKites integration itself

  2. Activating and Setting up the data sharing preferences for each customer you want to share information via FourKites to

Setting up the integration

  1. You will need to reach out to support@fourkites.com and request basic authentication credentials from them.

  2. In Alvys, navigate to the Integrations tab located under Management (you will need to have an Admin or Partner Admin role in order to access that page) and select the Subsidiary you want to set this integration up for and click on the crayon icon

  3. Enter the credentials that were given to you by FourKites, the subsidaries it will be used with, and click Save.

Activating and setting up data sharing for a customer

  1. Open a customer profile in Alvys (you can do it from any load where one has been set or from your companies list HERE) where FourKites tracking will be used.

  2. Next, the customer in Alvys needs to be linked to the customer in FourKites via the Alvys customer ID. You can obtain the Alvys Customer ID from the the hyperlink of the Customer profile. Example: https://app.alvys.com/#/companies/**affa5b56ceaeb45dc44z9af3cf855e8c6c12b**/edit --> affa5b56ceaeb45dc44z9af3cf855e8c6c12b is the Alvys Customer ID.

  3. In order to link the two, you can do this one of two ways:

    1. You will need to provide the Alvys Customer ID to the Four Kites contact who provided the integration credentials.

    2. Alternatively, you can do connect the Alvys customer ID to the FourKites customer directly here and you can find instructions on how to set it up here.

      1. After navigating to your customer’s page in Fourkites, you will need to add the Alvys Customer ID in the Customer Blll-to codes and then select “Add”.

  1. Next, on the right side of your screen, you will see the FourKites banner under integration settings. Please click on it

  2. Make necessary adjustment to your Sharing Preferences and click Save

    1. Dispatched or Covered status, will only consider sending updates if the load in in a Dispatched or Covered status, if it’s 2 hours or less before the scheduled pickup

    2. Dispatched status and 1st stop is marked as Arrived - will only start sending updates if there is an arrival time at the 1st stop

    3. Load In Transit - will send updates for loads that have an in transit status

    4. Load Delivered - will send updates for loads that have a delivered status - needs to be activated to inform FourKites when a load has been delivered

    5. ELD - will parse information obtained from ELD sources you have integrated with FourKites

    6. Outside Tracking Check Call - if you have third party tracking that supports updating stop status events, these can be submitted as location updates

    7. Location from the Driver App - If the driver assigned to a trip is using the Alvys Driver Companion app, you can select to share it

    8. Location from Other Tracking Services - location received from other Tracking Service Providers (Macropoint, FourKites tracking, TruckerTools, P44…)

  3. This will now activate sharing via FourKites for loads where this customer has been assigned according to your preferences

  4. You can individually pause / unpause data sharing for a specific load from within the load itself. Auto-updates are turned on by default for loads on which customers have data sharing enabled:
