Understanding Attributes in Amplifi

Attributes account for the PIM (Product Information Management) side of Amplifi. Whether you're adding new attributes, editing existing ones, or attaching them to collection folders, this guide will walk you through the process step by step.

Accessing Attribute Settings:

To manage attributes, navigate to "Admin” > “Systems" > "Folder Settings." Here, you'll find the "Attributes" tab, which is your central hub for attribute management.

Adding New Attributes:

Click on the "+ New" icon. You'll be prompted to enter a label for the attribute, such as "Material" or "Ingredients List," and select a value type.

Value type options are:

  • Boolean can only hold “Yes” or “No” data.

  • Date data is in MM/DD/YYYY format.

  • List is a bullet type that can be used for multiple descriptions of the collection folder/product.

  • Number is for labels that contains numeric data such as SRP, Serial Numbers, etc. This value type does not allow punctuation or symbols.

  • Pick List is for when you want specific options to be available. If selected, an area for adding what your desired options in your pick list will appear.

  • Text is for labels that contains alphabet data such as Name, Description, Instructions and more. Alphabet, numbers, punctuation, and symbols are allowed here.

Deleting Attributes:

If you need to remove an attribute, you can do so by clicking on the trash can icon next to the attribute's name.

Note that you can only delete attributes that are not attached to any collection folders. If you would like to delete attributes that are in collection folders, reach out to your Amplifi Support representative.

Adding or Editing Attributes in a Collection Folder:

Within a collection folder, navigate to the "Attributes" tab and click on "Add." While you can create new attributes here, it's recommended to create new attributes from within the attribute settings listed above.

After adding an attribute to a product, you can edit its value by selecting the attribute and entering the desired value. For pick list attributes, you'll be presented with predefined options to choose from. Make sure you press “Save” on the right hand side of the attribute.

Importing Attributes:

If you have a large number of attributes to add, consider using the import template provided by Amplifi. For more information on Attribute Import Templates, please refer to this support article, or talk to your Amplifi CSM.

For information on Attribute Groups, please refer to this article.
