Controlling liquid-handling behavior
Within Synthace, liquids can be assigned a liquid policy and a plate type. Both these parameters are used by the Synthace planner to select the appropriate liquid calibration.
Your Customer Success Team will configure the way that plate types and liquid policies map to calibrations. Synthace will provide you with a default configuration to get you started quickly. Generally, this suits most use cases, but should you wish to adapt this, simply contact us ,and we can assist.
The table below is an example configuration mapping for liquid calibrations, liquid policies, and plate types. If you wish to use additional plates and liquid policies, please notify your Customer Success representative.
Note: The calibration mapping for your device may differ from the information in the table below.
Contact us on the in-platform chat to discuss the calibration of your device.

Selecting and assigning a liquid policy
You need to assign a liquid policy to each liquid in your workflow: To control Liquid Policy usage, simply assign the Liquid Policy in the table above to the desired liquid.
In the 'Define liquids and plates' element, define the liquid you are working with. Then navigate to the Liquid Policies heading and add new entry. Enter the liquid name and open the Select a Policy interface. Liquids can be referenced by their Liquid Name, 'default' (all liquids), or using tags.
Find the liquid policy you wish to use using the search bar. Click on the policy, then click 'Select Policy'.
Go ahead and simulate your workflow. In the preview, click on the transfer arrows to confirm that the Liquid Policy you have selected is used for each transfer. Download the device instructions file to see details of the calibration that has been selected. The column “Source Plate Type” shows the calibration that has been assigned to each liquid.
