This document outlines the steps to publish a protocol within the Synthace platform, including tagging and visibility options. Publishing a protocol is the final stage in creating a protocol.
Please ensure you have reviewed the previous articles in this series before reading on.
How to publish a Protocol
Ensure that your protocol is fully defined, personalized and has scientific context added to the description before proceeding to the publishing step.
To open the publishing dialog click on the "Next" button in the Describe protocol window to access the simple publishing dialog box.
Add Tags:
Tags help group similar protocols and facilitate filtering in the full list of protocols.
Begin typing the desired tag name (e.g., "Protein Quantification Assay"). The system will auto-generate suggestions based on existing tags in the library.
To add a tag, click the plus button after entering the tag name. You can add multiple tags to a protocol.
Set Visibility:
Choose who can see the published protocol:
Only you: Publish the protocol privately.
Everyone: All members of your organization can access the protocol.
Note that the ability to publish organization-wide depends on your user role:
Member: Can create protocols but can only publish them privately.
Admin: Can publish protocols to everyone in the organization. Learn more about user permissions here.
Publish the Protocol: After setting tags and visibility, click the "Publish" button. This action will navigate you to the protocols list page.
Verify Publication:
Locate your protocol in the list by filtering with the tag(s) you assigned (e.g., "Protein Quantification Assay").
Protocols published to everyone in the organisation will be listed in the Public tab
Private and/or publicly published protocols that you are the author of will appear in the Authored by me tab
Conclusion
Following these steps will allow you to effectively publish your protocol, manage its visibility, and utilize tags for better organization within the Synthace platform.
