Sometimes the specific layout of liquids within an output plate can be flexible. In these cases, it can be useful to let Synthace take care of your layouts for you.

However, often you may need to specify a particular layout for the liquids within the wells of the plate for various reasons. For example, it may be to avoid cross contamination of samples or to separate samples and standards into different areas of a plate, or to several plates. You may also want to specify whether liquids are arranged by rows or columns within the plate.

For higher throughput applications where your sample size may vary per experiment, you might require a mechanism which scales your workflow across multiple plates, without the need to reconfigure it. For example, by making sure every assay plate gets a set of controls and standards with enough plates being prepared to fit all your samples.

This series of tutorials explains the ways in which you can describe plates and well sets, and lays the foundations for building scalable workflows.
