Welcome to breadcrumbs navigation

We’ve added this new toolbar to the top left corner of the page, wherever you are in Synthace.

Updated over a year ago

Breadcrumbs is a cross-platform navigation tool focussed on your user journey. With breadcrumbs, it’s easier to move between related steps of your protocol - from design to simulation, onto execution and data analysis.

Read more to understand what you can do with breadcrumbs.

Navigating your experiment

We want you to be able to navigate across your experiment easily, and jump from workflow to execution as seamlessly as possible. This is particularly important in DOE experiments, where you might have generated a simulation series with multiple executions.

Read below to see how you navigate upstream, downstream, or through a simulation series.

Upstream navigation

With Breadcrumbs, you can easily navigate from your execution to your workflow or experiment. In the top left side of the screen you can see the different buttons that represent the Experiment, the Workflow (or the Snapshot), the Simulation, and the Execution. Their order represents the hierarchy: workflows create simulations, and each simulation can create one execution. All these entities can be present within an experiment.

This extends to the entire platform through to the DOE analysis tools, where each entity has its own navigation button.

Simply click on the correct button to navigate straight to the entity of your choosing.

Downstream navigation

While each entity only has one parent, navigating upstream is linear. Navigating downstream is different, as a workflow can have multiple simulations.

From a workflow to a simulation

As before, if you’re in the Builder, click the simulation card and you can view all the simulations associated with that workflow. Click View Simulation to jump to the simulation you’re interested in.

From a snapshot to a simulation

A snapshot is an uneditable version of a workflow, which is tied to a specific simulation. If you open a snapshot and want to view its Simulation, simply click Go To Simulation at the top of the screen.

From a simulation to an execution

We’ve separated simulations from executions. Now, if you’re in a Simulation and want to jump to its Execution, click on the blue button in the Overview Page, under Execution.

Navigating a simulation series

In Synthace’s DOE, you can automatically separate a DOE design onto multiple simulations. This is useful, for example, if your experiment is complex and happens over different time points. When this happens, we can generate a simulation series, where the DOE design is divided into different simulations.

Simulations that are part of a series are marked with a blue tag saying `Part x`.

With Breadcrumbs, it’s easy to navigate between simulations within a series. Just click on the dropdown next to the simulation name, and choose the simulation to which you want to navigate.

The same is possible from the Execution page. Click the dropdown next to the simulation icon and select the simulation to which you want to navigate.

Or if each simulation has its own Execution, you can seamlessly navigate between executions and check the status of each one from the dropdown menu.

We hope this short article gives you a better idea of how you can use Breadcrumbs to navigate your experiment.
