Configure Your Hamilton Liquid Handler

Establish the connection between Synthace and your Hamilton.

Updated over 11 months ago

To connect to Synthace, you must configure your Hamilton liquid handler. Additionally, you must reconfigure your device any time you make a change in Hamilton's native software.

Here are the steps to configure your Hamilton device to work with Synthace:

  1. Save the current deck layout in Hamilton's software (e.g. Venus) as a .lay file.

  2. Use the Configuration Tool in SynthaceHub to export deck layout(s) to a .json config file.

  3. Upload the config file to Synthace (cloud) by clicking the "configuration" button on the appropriate device.

Save the Current Deck Layout

In the Hamilton Method Editor or Venus software, ensure your deck layout (with no plates, only carriers added), plates, and liquid classes are saved.

Save the deck layout as a .lay file.

Use the Configuration Tool in SynthaceHub

Open SynthaceHub (the local version of Synthace on the device's computer).

Navigate to the Devices page and locate your device. Click the Configuration Tool button.

A Get Hamilton Config window will pop up. Select all the deck layouts (saved as .lay files) that you want to use in Synthace. Then click Extract and Save to save these as a .json file.

Upload the config file to Synthace (cloud)

Log into your Synthace (cloud) environment. Navigate to Inventory > Devices and find your device.

Click the Configuration button on your device to upload the config .json file. You can find more information here.
