Answer
User fields in ANVL are split across ANVL Insights and the Admin Portal, and not every field can be edited in both places. Some fields are view-only, some can be edited in ANVL Insights, and some can only be edited in the Admin Portal.
At a high level, user fields fall into five categories:
User identifiers
User profile fields
Roles and access
Organization and hierarchy
Metadata and system fields
Use this reference when you need to:
determine where a field can be edited
prepare a bulk update
troubleshoot a failed user update
review access, hierarchy, or reporting setup.
Steps
Open ANVL Insights when you need to review or edit day-to-day user information.
Go to Users
Search for the user
Open the user profile
Open the Admin Portal when you need to review or edit full user record details.
In ANVL Insights, select Welcome, [Your Name]
Select Admin Portal
Open User Management
Search for the user
Use the Users tab in ANVL Insights for:
routine profile updates
Group changes within your scope
supervisor changes
activation or inactivation
product access changes
Use the Admin Portal for:
Special Rights
Hidden user status
Can Modify User
tags and metadata
primary Group
bulk actions
full user record review
Before updating supervisor or Group fields, confirm the hierarchy rule: a Supervisor must belong to at least one Group shared with their direct report
If a user update fails, review whether the problem is caused by:
a non-editable field
a field being edited in the wrong interface
a supervisor and Group mismatch
missing required values in a bulk action
Use the tables below to determine where each field can be viewed and where it can be edited.
