The Anvl app stores data on your device while you are completing work. This is called device storage.

When connected to the internet, this work quickly uploads to our servers for storage. When offline, your device stores your work until it is connected to the internet again.

Anvl users often switch between working online and offline. This article will provide you with some tips to make sure your data is never cleared from your device on accident.

The Basics

  • Connect your device to the internet at least once every few days to allow your work to upload. This can take a few minutes.

  • Never delete the app from your device, especially if you are working offline. This will erase your unsaved data.

  • You will not be able to login or logout of Anvl while offline.

How does Anvl device storage work?

In order for the Anvl app to be fully operational, it needs to load in data and be stored on your device. This stored data allows for the app to work seamlessly whether the device is connected to the internet tor not.

What is necessary for device storage to be uploaded?

Your device needs to have a working internet connection to Anvl servers in order to upload saved items. This process can take a few minutes.

What causes device storage to be disabled/cleared?

Anvl device storage is cleared when a new version of the app is installed, or when you log in.

Saved data that is on the device is only cleared when you log in. Each saved item is removed from device storage once it is successfully saved on the Anvl servers.

If the Anvl app is online and not syncing data (showing the yellow banner on your main screen) then everything is saved.

Important! Uninstalling the application from the device wipes out all device data, which means any unsaved data will be lost. This should never be done if it all possible.

What issues are most common with device storage?

Occasionally, connection to the internet can go down in the middle of saving a workflow. When this happens, Anvl will check for a working internet connection and try to save the workflow again once a connection is established.

During this time the workflow will remain saved on your device. However, it will not be visible in Anvl Insights until the saved workflow is successfully uploaded using an internet connection. Insights is the Anvl tool that your supervisors use to review your work.

Additionally, If you are in many groups, it make take some time before your device will fully load Anvl. During this time, some areas of the app will be unavailable. These include the Add Work, Log Out, and Create Workflow buttons. Once this initial load is complete all features of the application will be available. This usually takes thirty seconds to a minute.
