Understanding Leaderboards in Applause

Updated over 3 weeks ago

"Leaderboards" in Applause is a great way to spotlight your team’s performance across key metrics like NPS, tipping, and review data across all company locations and users. It's designed to celebrate top performers, keep everyone motivated, and bring a little friendly competition into the mix.

How Leaderboards Work

Leaderboard stats automatically reset at the beginning of each month or quarter, depending on your company’s setup. This ensures that the data remains timely and relevant, always reflecting the current performance period.

How to Navigate to Leaderboards Settings in the Admin Portal

Managing your team’s leaderboard settings is simple in the Applause Admin Portal.
Inside the Leaderboards section, click the Settings tab located at the top right of the page. This will bring you to the Leaderboards Settings area, where you can tailor how the leaderboard is displayed and managed. Admins can control Global leaderboard settings and Mobile leaderboard settings.

Features

Applause Leaderboards offer several features that make performance tracking simple and customizable:

  • Name Search Bar – Easily search for a specific employee or user by name.

  • Date Range Filter – View reviews or performance metrics within a specific time frame. Selecting the appropriate timeframe ensures leaderboard accuracy. For instance, choosing "This Month" will display current metrics for that entire period.

  • Leaderboard Filters – Search and filter by review types to drill down into the data

  • Display As – Choose to view data by Employee or Location, depending on your preference.

  • Location Filter – Narrow down results to specific locations—ideal for companies with multiple branches or offices.

Note: You can't use display or filter by location for the Reviews Leaderboard. With public review listings being shared across locations often (i.e. a CSR location and technician location using the same link), and those not always being 1-to-1 it's a complex scenario to achieve and Applause is determining the best way to accomplish this filter in Leaderboards.

Global leaderboard settings

NPS Leaderboard: To ensure accurate visibility, employees or technicians need to meet the organization-defined minimum NPS rating requirement. Participants not meeting the threshold will not display on the leaderboard, even with high scores. Check and update these settings via the Admin Portal for adjusted configurations. To keep leaderboard rankings fair and accurate, you can set a minimum number of NPS ratings an employee must receive before they appear on the leaderboard.

Why does this matter?
Imagine this:

  • Employee A has a perfect NPS score of 100, but it’s based on just 2 ratings.

  • Employee B has an impressive 98 NPS, but it’s from 20 ratings.

Without a threshold, Employee A could outrank Employee B—even though B’s score is more consistent and based on a much bigger sample of feedback.

By setting a minimum rating requirement, you make sure rankings reflect consistent performance and not just a couple of lucky reviews.

Mobile Leaderboard Settings

Admins can control which leaderboards are visible to employees/tech within the app. This helps focus team members on the most relevant performance metrics. You can toggle ON/OFF the following leaderboard types:

🔘 NPS Leaderboard - Let your team see how they’re doing based on customer NPS

🔘 Google Reviews Leaderboard -Allow or restrict visibility to the Google Reviews leaderboard.

🔘 Facebook Reviews Leaderboard - Enable or disable visibility of the Facebook Reviews leaderboard.

🔘 Tip Count Leaderboard - Shows employees by how many tips they’ve received.

🔘 Tip Dollars Leaderboard - Shows who brought in the most tip money within the selected timeframe.

🔘 Driving Score Leaderboard - Control the visibility to Driving score. Ranks employees by driving score—higher scores rank higher. If there's no driving data, they’ll show up with a (–).

🔘 Reservices Leaderboard - Visibility on reservice score. Ranks based on the percentage of jobs that needed to be redone. Lower percentages are better here. Those with no completed jobs during the timeframe are displayed with a (–)

🔘 Production Value Leaderboard - Show/Hide Production value score. Ranks based on the total dollar value of jobs completed. More value = higher rank. Employees with no completed jobs appear with a (–)

🔘 Jobs Completed Leaderboard - Show/Hide jobs completed score. Ranking is based on who completed the most jobs during the timeframe. Employees with no completed jobs appear with a (–)

🔘Attendance Leaderboard - Show/Hide Attendance. Tracks how many days an employee completed at least one job. More active days = higher ranking. Employees with no completed jobs appear with a (–)

Toggle visibility as needed to align with your team’s goals and recognition strategies.

FAQs

Q: Why can't I see anything on Leaderboards?
A:

  1. The leaderboard time range may have reset recently (i.e. new quarter, new month, etc.) - Check the date range filter for the Leaderboard for a period that includes enough submissions to qualify

  2. You might not have enough submissions for that leaderbaord to qualify. Company admins set minimum requires to qualify for making it to the leaderboard.

  3. Certain Leaderboards may not be enabled for your company's account
