Deleted Google Reviews refer to customer reviews that were previously visible on a Google business profile but have since been removed. This can occur due to violations of Google’s review policies, user-initiated deletions, or automated filtering for spam, inappropriate content, or suspicious activity Additionally, some reviews may temporarily disappear due to technical issues within Google’s systems, which are not related to policy violations.

Technical Glitches or Temporary Outages7. Technical issues within Google's systems causing temporary review disappearance
If Google deletes a review and it no longer appears online, it will also be marked as deleted on your Applause page. Additionally, the inability to respond to that review is another indication that it has been removed. For any questions or concerns about deleted reviews, please reach out directly to Google. When this happens it normally affects a large number of businesses across multiple industries and countries, not just Applause customers. Temporary review disappearances caused by technical issues are typically resolved by Google without requiring user intervention.
What You Can Do to find out more about deleted reviews:
1. Check for Known Outages
Before escalating, it’s helpful to confirm whether the issue is part of a broader outage. You can:
a. Search Google support forums or community discussions
b. Look for recent posts about deleted or missing reviews
c. Check if other businesses are reporting similar issues
These outages often affect multiple industries and regions—not just your business.
2. Escalate to Google Support
If the reviews are still missing and no outage is confirmed, you can submit a request to Google:
How to Submit a Missing Review Request
Go to your Google Business Profile.
Under "Tell us what we can help with," type Missing Reviews.
Select Reviews Missing and then click Next.
Click Next again, then choose Email.
Fill out the form and submit your request.
Please note that submitting a request does not guarantee that the reviews will be restored.
If you notice reviews that are visible on Google or in your Google Business Profile (GBP), but show as deleted in Applause, this could indicate a display issue within Applause. We’d be happy to investigate this further for you to ensure everything is accurately reflected. We're happy to help and can also determine whether it’s a display problem or a glitch on Google's end. If you experience delayed low-rating alerts, it may be due to Google’s Reviews API releasing reviews in batches or updates to existing reviews being treated as new events.
