Roof Wizard button - Set-Up TilesTiles

The Tiles dialog allows you to define new tile products within the Roof Wizard database.
As with all product definitions, the Product Code is the key element — it links the tile to its accessories, pricing, and labour records.

When you select Set-Up Tiles, the Define Tile dialog box opens, allowing you to enter both textual information (for identification and selection) and geometric information (used for quantity calculations).

🔗 Quote Groups and Category Linking

Roof Wizard is evolving toward enhanced job management and accounting system integration.
To support this, materials can now be grouped using Quote Groups.

The Alternate Category field in product dialogs enables you to:

  • Assign materials to specific Quote Groups,

  • Split estimates into logical groupings (e.g., Tile Supply, Tile Labour, Accessories), and

  • Improve report and export organization.

📄 Linking PDFs to Products

Each product (e.g., flashing, metal panel, fastener, or tile) can now include a linked PDF file — typically a specification or data sheet.
This feature enables users to automatically compile complete documentation sets for quotes and reports without manually searching for supporting documents.

When a PDF is linked, it is recorded in a file called:

PDFS.CSV

This file contains:

  • The Product Code, and

  • The Filename/Path of the associated PDF.

Example:

TILE123, Bristile-ClassicProfile.pdf

If a Drawing Report of type PDFReport is defined under Drawings, Roof Wizard can automatically compile and print all linked PDFs together — producing a complete document package for your customer.

✅ Summary

By defining tiles in this dialog, you establish the key data relationships that power:

  • Accurate tile quantity and waste calculations

  • Consistent labour and costing associations

  • Integration with Quote Groups and report generation

  • Linked PDF documentation for customer-ready estimates

🔹 Always ensure Product Codes are unique — they are the foundation for all linked data across Roof Wizard’s estimating and reporting system.
