🔩 Metal Panel Accessories

Use this section to define and manage all accessory items required for the installation of metal roof or wall panels.
Accessories can include items such as panel clips, joining plates, or any related components required for fixing or sealing panels.

⚙️ Accessory Definition Fields

Field

Description

Accessory Name

The name you use to identify the accessory (e.g., Panel Clip, Joining Plate).

Product Code

The unique identifier or code for this accessory. It is used to link the accessory to pricing, labour, and reports.

Finish

The surface finish of the accessory.
By default, it inherits the finish of the host flashing, but you can override this.

💡 If you define the finish as “Colour”, “Color”, or “Painted”, the accessory automatically adopts the same colour as the host flashing.

Items per Box

The quantity of this accessory supplied per box when ordered.

Cost per Box

The cost for one full box of the accessory.

Number

A numerical value or spacing applied according to the selected estimation method (see below).

Estimation Method

Determines how this accessory is quantified during estimation.

Number of Fasteners

The number of fasteners required to install this accessory.

[M] / [L]

Defines whether this accessory is:
- [M] → a Material accessory (included in material cost)
- [L] → a Labour accessory (included in labour cost).

For example:
A gutter or fascia that requires extra finishing may incur additional labour cost — in that case, add it as a Labour item.

[X]

Deletes the accessory item from the current list.

🪟 Dialog Controls

Button

Function

Select

Displays all defined accessories for all flashings.
Selecting one overrides the default supplier name for this accessory.

Reset

Reverts the list to its state before any recent changes.

Cancel

Closes the dialog without saving changes.

[OK]

Saves all changes to the accessory data file:
Sheeting.csv (located in the ..\User folder).

🧮 Panel Accessory Estimation Methods

The Estimation Method determines how each accessory’s quantity is calculated during costing.
Choose from the following options:

Method

Description

Not Estimated

The accessory will still appear in the material list but will have a quantity of zero. Useful for optional or placeholder items.

Per Unit Area

Adds accessories based on a fixed number per square of panel material (m² or ft²).

Spacing Along Panel (nett)

Quantifies accessories according to the nett length of the panel (the coverage length, not total sheet length).
Typically used for items like panel clips or brackets that are spaced along the panel.

💡 If you set the spacing to 0, the software automatically adopts the rafter spacing defined under Roof Defaults > Rafter Spacing. This is ideal when bracket spacing depends on varying job conditions.

Per Join

Calculates accessory quantity based on the number of joins between connected panels.
Commonly used for sealant or joining strips.

Per Panel

Quantifies one or more accessories for each individual panel ordered.

Per Intersection with Batten/Purlin

Calculates the quantity based on how many times a panel crosses a batten or purlin line.

Per m in Zone

Adds extra accessories (e.g., additional clips or screws) according to wind zone requirements defined under Cover > Zones.

Stock Lengths

Lets you define a table of standard stock lengths and associated costs. Commonly used for pressed metal tile profiles or long-run sheet products.

📏 Panel Length and Allowance Settings

When stock lengths are used, Roof Wizard applies any overlap and underlap allowances defined under:

Estimate > Gen-Panels > Modify-Panels > Split-Panels

This ensures each calculated panel length:

  • Includes the correct overlap allowances, and

  • Rounds up to the nearest available stock length.

💡 If stock lengths are defined for a panel, you must also set up an appropriate Allowance File for that panel.
This guarantees accurate panel selection and consistent quantity rounding.

✅ Summary

The Metal Panel Accessories setup allows you to:

  • Define all material and labour accessories for metal roofing and wall systems

  • Control how each accessory is quantified and costed

  • Automatically link accessories to host panels and flashings

  • Manage finishes, fasteners, and costs with precision

  • Save all definitions in a single, shareable database (Sheeting.csv)

🔹 Defining accessories accurately ensures perfect material orders, correct labour costing, and efficient report generation every time.
