Job Departments

Written by Lyndsay Franklin

Job Departments let you group/categorize your job postings (e.g., Nursing, Therapy, Dietary, Admin, RBT, etc.) so your team can organize jobs and manage hiring activity more efficiently.

How to set up Job Departments
1. Go to Job Departments (Settings)
You can manage Job Departments from the Job Departments page (ex: hire.apploi.com/v2/job-departments).

2. Create your Department list
Add department names that match how you run your org (examples: Clinical, Non-Clinical, CNA, RN, Therapy, Home Health Aide, Scheduling, etc.).
Best practice: keep names consistent and avoid duplicates (e.g., choose “Nursing” vs “Nurses” and stick to one).

3. Assign a Department to each job
When creating/editing a job posting, select the appropriate Department for that job (this is how the job gets categorized).

4. (Optional) Use Departments in career page snippets/filters
If you use the Apploi website snippet on your careers page, departments can help filter what jobs appear (for example, show only “RBT” jobs if “RBT” is used as a department).

Benefits:
1. Better organization for recruiters
Quickly classify jobs by function/role/category instead of relying only on job titles.

2. Cleaner career page experiences
Departments can support filtering/grouping behaviors in job snippet/career-page experiences, helping applicants find the right jobs faster (especially for clients with lots of postings).

3. Easier workflow management at scale
Departments are a building block for more advanced workflow/automation patterns (running different hiring workflows for groups of jobs instead of doing everything one job at a time).

4. More consistent reporting and internal process
When departments are used consistently, it’s easier to report internally (and generally reduces “where does this job belong?” confusion).
