📦 Creating Multiple Product Variants with Subscriptions

This guide will walk you through—step by step—how to create product variants in Shopify and then associate subscription plans to each.

By the end, your customers will be able to select monthly, quarterly, and yearly subscriptions right from a single product page! 🚀

🛒 Step 1: Add Your Product to Shopify

  1. In your Shopify Admin, go to Products → click ➕ Add Product.

  2. Fill in the basics:

    • 🏷️ Title & Description

    • 🖼️ Product Images

    • 💰 Price

    • 🚚 Shipping Info

🎨 Step 2: Add Product Variants

In the Variants section, define how your product differs.
The Variants section lets you define different versions of your product, such as sizes, colours, or materials.
For this tutorial, we’ll set up delivery frequency variants:

  • 📅 Monthly

  • 📅 Quarterly

  • 📅 Yearly

⚙️ Step 3: Set Purchase Options (Optional)

If you want the product to be sold only as a subscription:

  1. Scroll down to Purchase Options.

  2. Toggle: Only sell this product as a subscription.

  3. Click 💾 Save at the bottom right.

✨ Now your product and its variants are ready in Shopify.

📂 Step 4: Create Subscription Plans in Appstle

  1. Open your Appstle Dashboard

  2. Go to Manage Plans → Create Plan

  3. Create three separate subscription plans (one for each variant: Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly)

  4. For each plan:

    • Name the plan (e.g., Monthly Plan, Quarterly Plan, Yearly Plan)

    • Search for and select the variants you just created

💡 Creating individual plans for each variant makes it easier to customise order frequency, billing cycles, and discounts.

🔄 Step 5: Add Discounts to Variants

Now that your subscription plans are created, you can customise them further by attaching discounts and clear descriptions.

💡 Discounts are a great way to encourage customers to choose longer-term plans.

👀 Step 6: Preview in Your Storefront

  • Visit your storefront and open the product page.

  • You’ll see each variant (Monthly, Quarterly, Yearly).

  • The Appstle subscription widget will display the correct subscription options under each variant.

🎉 You’re done! Your product now has multiple variants, each with its own subscription plan.
