Analytics are a crucial part of a business, as they help with keeping track of growth, discovering potential areas of improvement, determining future plans for the business, etc.

Analytics

Appstle Subscriptions' analytics are divided into two categories: Performance and Event Reports. Performance reports are available to all merchants while Event Reports are available to merchants on any paid plan.

The Performance section shows how your business is holding up in the various different aspects of subscriptions.


Here, the analytics are broken up into 4 different categories. Most of our analytics simply pull your store’s data to be displayed in this section. There are, however, some that use formulas for the purposes of calculating the displayed values.

For your reference, below is a table of the formulas in question and how they are calculated:

Subscription Growth Month Over Month

(Current Month's Subscription Growth - Last Month's Subscription Growth) * 100

Revenue Growth Month Over Month

(Current Month's Revenue Growth - Last Month's Revenue Growth) * 100

Note: You can adjust the time interval to your liking by using the dropdown in the upper-right. Default timeframes range from yesterday to as far back as 5 years. You can even enter a custom time range using these fields. Regardless of which you use, the analytics will be calculated appropriately for the specified time range.

The first section is Overview. It gives a high-level view of your store’s performance. The total number of orders, subscriptions created, average subscription lifetime, and average orders per subscription will be visible in the first part.

At the bottom is Product Delivery Forecasting, which you can think of as Inventory Forecasting. It shows the quantity of specific products you will need in order to fulfill subscription orders for the next 7, 30, 90, and 365 days, respectively. You can also adjust the time range in this section and even export the data to your email.

The second tab is Subscriptions, which contain analytics describing the nature of your customer’s subscriptions. Most of these are self-explanatory, and you can hover over the title of a specific analytic if you need more clarification.

The 3 analytics on this page worth mentioning are for churn, approval, and cancellation rates, as these are some of the analytics that use specific formulas. Refer to the table of formulas above for more information.

The third section is Revenue, which will show growth rates and estimated revenue for various lengths of time. There are metrics for first time and recurring revenue, the month to month revenue growth rate, and the average order value of all of your subscriptions.

Below that are metrics for estimated revenue for the next 7, 30, and 90 days. Then there’s a graph for Historical vs Estimated Revenue, which compares earnings for your chosen time interval. Assuming you have sufficient data, a line for both will be visible. Beside that is another graph detailing the order amount per month, including both first time and recurring order amounts, in your store’s currency. Underneath those is data on recurring orders and the products they contain. It will show approximately how many subscriptions have a specific product in them along with the total revenue they generate, canceled product quantity, and similar cancellation, approval, and churn rates as the previous section.

The fourth and final section is Cohort. The first section will display subscriber retention statistics from month to month. Hover over the percentages in the graph to receive specific numbers.

Under that will be analytics for subscription cancellation reasons. The data shown here is directly tied to our cancellation management feature, more specifically the Customer Retention Flow option. This option allows you to set common cancellation reasons so that customers can leave behind feedback. The distribution of their answers will display in the form of a pie chart, and you can hover over specific sections to get specific numbers.

Reports

Reports are divided into two subcategories: Summary and Detailed.

Summary reports are quick-view reports that list some of the key analytics we have already covered in the Performance section.

To receive these, you will need to go into the summary reports section and enable them. You can then add your email to send the report to and choose the frequency you receive them.

Hit Update to save these settings.

Detailed reports allow you to view specific subscription information for a time interval, and they will be divided by type. While the performance section may tell you what your store's Approval Rate is for subscription orders, it does not show which customers placed them. That is where these detailed reports can help.

Open them to view your customers’ information. You can access your merchant portal using the Contract IDs, view customer information in your Shopify Admin using the names, and view the Shopify order using the Order IDs here.

Also, the Failed Past Order section, specifically, will contain additional buttons you can use, assuming the list is populated, to retry billing.

As a final point, if you need to keep this information for your reference, you can export any of these sets of data by using the Export buttons on the upper-right of each section. You will need to enter your email for this data to be sent to in the pop-up that appears and hit Send Email.
