Payment gateways are an essential part of getting your site live. These are what allow you to make sales on your site. These are what allow you to process charges to credit cards. Without a payment gateway, you won’t ever make any money on the site because you won’t be able to accept money.

ART STOREFRONTS RECOMMENDATION

Art Storefronts offers several different payment gateway options, but we strongly suggest using Stripe in the beginning because they are the easiest and fastest to set up. You may choose to use another payment gateway, but it may slow down your work flow and cause you to delay launching your Art Storefronts site.

We’re going to teach you how to get Stripe set up and running properly on your site, so you can accept payments and be totally prepared for your first sale.

NOTE: Make sure to reveal and copy both "Secret" and "Publishable" key. Both are required for Stripe to work correctly.

Integrate Stripe with Art Storefronts

  1. Now that you’ve got your Stripe key copied, you need to head over to your Art Storefronts Site Manager.

Find the tab titled SITE SETTINGS and click on it.

    23.png

  2. Before you go any further, on the next page, you need to find a tab labeled SHOPPING CART and click on it. If you don’t click on this, you can’t follow this process and you won’t be able to get your payment gateway added to your account.

    24.png

  3. Make sure you are on the Info tab, and then scroll down the page and find the option titled Choose your Merchant and from that drop-down menu, select the option labeled Stripe (with 3s secure).

NOTE: Though you can also select just Stripe from the drop-down menu it is our recommendation that you select Stripe with 3D Secure. This Stripe with 3D Secure integration is important for anyone who sells a lot in Europe, or would like to implement additional security to reduce fraudulent orders

The Strong Customer Authentication regulation in Europe requires the use of 3D Secure for card payments. Meaning, that buyers from Europe are required to go through an additional authentication step while purchasing online. 3D Secure is optional in other regions but can still be used as a tool to reduce fraud.

If the issuer of the credit card that is being used in the checkout requires additional authentication from customers, Stripe triggers 3D Secure automatically and directs the customer to an authentication page on their bank’s website. Here the buyer enters a password associated with the card or a code is sent to their phone. Some devices also support fingerprint authentication.

  4. Then, in the box labeled Secret Key, paste your Secret Key that you revealed in step 29 of this support article.

  5. Click the Save button to make sure your work is saved. DO NOT click the back button or you’ll lose the progress you just made.

Troubleshooting

  1. I put my key in, but I got an error saying The Stripe Secret Key you entered appears to be your Test Key. This is incorrect. Please input your Live Key instead.

    1. The reason you’re seeing this information is because you attempted to enter in a key that said TEST. You need to go back and verify your Stripe website. You need to make sure the account is activated and make sure you’ve verified your phone number.

  2. My Secret Key won’t save.

    1. You may need to use an approved browser. If you’re using anything other than Firefox or Chrome, you should stop and use either Chrome or Firefox.

    2. If you’re using an approved browser, you may need to clear your cache. Check out how to clear the cache by using the article on How To: Clear your Cache.

  3. Need to Contact Stripe support?
