There is an influx of multiples on the market and unfortunately there are overflows, editions of dubious origin or even fakes. It is not our vocation to be specialists in editions, especially since historically each artist has his or her own specificities. We need an expert for each movement or even for each artist. Indeed, it is the role of the galleries to sort out and provide correct and complete information on the editions they put on sale.

In order to ensure the quality of the editions sold on Artsper, we have set up some conditions for the multiples.

It is therefore a deliberate choice to have established these rules:

  • All editions must be numbered. We do not accept open editions.

  • The exception to this is for Design objects, for which the number of existing copies can be unlimited. However, the number of copies available must be indicated.

NB: Unnumbered AP/EA/HC copies are not accepted. We only accept HC II/VIII, EA 1/6 etc. as we want to have proof of the total number of copies in the market or in collections; furthermore, we ask you not to present unnumbered EA/HC/AP copies as unique works.

  • Editions of 301 copies or more must be signed by the artist

We are aware that we miss out on a lot of great work, but our aim is to ensure the quality of the catalogue we offer our users, not to offer them a large number of works whose origin is unclear.
