Understand installation and connectivity requirements and data flow
Overview
The customer must procure a piece of hardware called an EC-BOS-8 or a software application called EC-Net 4. This device or software application will be installed on the customer’s Ethernet network and will communicate with the local control system using the Niagara-supported open protocol. The EC-BOS-8 / EC-Net 4 will then transmit timestamped resource use data to Atrius servers at regular intervals.
Installation
Standard 110V power outlet
RJ-45 ethernet port
DIN rail mountable
Networking
The EC-BOS-8/ EC-Net 4 must be provided with a network configuration and installation location that will allow:
BACnet/IP
Local network communication over 47808/udp to control system devices
Connection to unified network or isolated intranet as required by IT Security
Option1: all communications over eth0 (eth1disabled)
Option2: isolated WAN/LAN connections via eth0ð1
Outbound HTTPs POST over SSL
Internet communication over 443/tcp to the Atrius cloud servers at https://api.buildingos.com
Inbound Fox/HTTP
Internet communication over 1911/tcp, 3011/tcp, and 80/tcp from the Atrius team to EC-BOS-8/ EC-Net 4 to be provided via an externally accessible IP address or VPN. Note - this is required for initial setup, additional integrations, point reconfigurations/additions, and troubleshooting support cases
NTP
Internet communication over 37/tcp to NIST ITS server, generally: time-a.timefreq.bldrdoc.gov
Alternatively, local network communication with a time server supporting NTP Outbound HTTP POST
Metering/Control System
The EC-BOS-8/EC-Net4 will function as an automation client
All devices need to be properly configured per the manufacturer’s specifications
The Atrius Data Points Workbook provided by the Project Manager must be completed with all relevant information
