There may be times when you wish to offer your survey respondents additional discounts or rewards in return for their answers. The rules for when this can and can't be done vary depending on whether you're surveying your own audience, or reaching Attest's audience.
For surveys sent to your own audience
When sending surveys to your own audience only, you can offer an incentive to your respondents, as long as the following criteria are met:
Any personally identifiable information (including the respondent's name, email address, phone number and other information which allows them to be identifiable to you) is collected and stored outside of the Attest platform. An example of this would be to have respondents email an inbox that is managed by your company and mention "Please email xyz@xyz.com with your contact details once you have completed this survey". Read why this information can't be collected and stored by Attest, here.
In which case, you are responsible for and must comply with any data protection regulations relevant to the respondents, including (but not limited to): only sending surveys to individuals who have previously explicitly consented to being contacted for marketing purposes, monitoring and recording any requests from respondents to unsubscribe from communications or amending or deleting their personal data (etc.), and including your privacy policy when collecting the data.
You inform your respondents of the following details: who will be administering the incentive, what the incentive is, when they will receive it, and whether any conditions need to be met in order to receive it.
For surveys sent to Attest's audience
When sending surveys to Attest's audience, respondents are already incentivised by our sample providers for taking part in your survey. The rewards offered vary from provider to provider, to increase the diversity of the sample you have access to. As such you cannot provide additional incentives, for the following reasons:
As already explained above and in this article, you cannot collect personally identifiable information (including the respondents' name, email address, phone number and other information which allows them to be identifiable to you) using the Attest platform.
Offering further incentives is prohibited by the terms agreed with our sample providers, who are in charge of the rewards offered to the respondents they supply us with.
Attest is accredited by the Market Research Society, and offering further incentives is prohibited by their Code of Conduct.
For any more information on the rewards Attest offers our audience, or how you can use Attest to conduct your research projects, don't hesitate to get in contact using the in-platform live chat.
