Whether you're a seasoned drone pilot or a newcomer to the skies, this article will equip you with the knowledge and confidence to secure the insurance coverage you need for your aerial operations.

Follow these steps to complete the get a drone insurance quote using AutoPylot:

Drone Insurance quotes are free and don't require any payment details or commitment! Simply fill out the application (we will show you how below) and instantly get a quote!

Getting Started

  • Open Drone Insurance ~ Start by opening the menu and selecting drone insurance.

  • Select Your Home State ~ Select the state in which you reside. If you are traveling and planning on flying in another state, you should still select the state you reside in. Once you have purchased a policy, flights are covered in all states.

  • Select Go ~ Once you have selected your home state from the list, select Go.

AutoPylot currently offers drone insurance in 48 states, so if you have selected a state we do not offer insurance, you will not be able to access the application.

Liability Coverage

Liability coverage protects you from any damage caused by the drone. This includes damage to property, such as buildings, or bodily injury to third-party individuals.

  • Policy Start Date ~ What day would you like coverage to begin?

  • Liability Limit ~ is the maximum amount the insurance company will pay for any damages or injuries caused by your drone, beyond which you might have to cover the additional costs yourself.

  • How many drones do you plan to operate during the policy period? ~ In other words, how big is your fleet? And how many of the drones you own would you like the insurance policy to protect from liability?

  • What is the main use of this drone? ~ Will you be using the drone(s) for purely recreational purposes, or will you be flying under Part-107 (commercial)? If you switch between the two, select both!

Hull Coverage For Drones and Equipment (Optional)

You can opt for hull coverage to protect against any damage to the drone itself or other equipment like drone controllers, cameras, or payloads. Getting hull coverage is optional, so if your drone or equipment is already covered, simply select no for each and then continue!

  • Add Physical Damage Coverage (Hull) for Drone? ~ This is where you can add protection for the drone itself. Since liability only covers damages caused by the drone, hull coverage covers any damage to the actual drone. This step is optional, and if your drone still has a warranty or uses DJI Care, you are welcome to skip this step!

  • Add Physical Damage Coverage (Hull) for Equipment? ~ Aside from your drone, we also offer protection the ability to protect any other equipment you may use other than the drone. This could be a DSLR camera, different payloads and sensors, or drone controllers such as DJI Smart Controllers. Remember that insuring the drone does not cover the controller, you would need to add it here!

Personal Information

  • Personal Information ~ Tell us a little about the person getting insured! Remember, the information entered here will appear on the policy and is the one that will be covered by the policy.

  • Additional Insured ~ Use this section if you want to add a client, venue, or co-pilot to the policy!

If a client requests to be added as an additional insured, follow this guide.
