To reach your HPPD, you would take the total hours worked and divide that number by your current Census.
Direct Care HPPD:
Your direct-care HPPD is including the following employees hours worked;
Unit Manager
RN - Floor Nurse
LPN - Floor Nurse
CMA / CMT
CNA / GNA
Your direct-care HPPD, excludes any hours worked by clinicians on orientation.
Overall HPPD:
Your Overall HPPD calculates your Direct-Care hours, plus all your nursing administration staff and orientee's - Starting with your nursing supervisors.
Be sure to add profiles and schedules for all your nursing admin employees;
Some examples are your; DON, ADON, IP Nurse, Wound Care Nurse, MDS Nurse, etc.
Suggested HPPD:
Your suggested HPPD is taking into account your facilities individuality.

Facility acuity levels
Facility census by unit
As well as any other factors that may play a role in your staffing ratio needs
Taking these factors into consideration, the suggested HPPD is showing you where a facility matching your individual needs would and should be under normal circumstances.
Be sure to account for any additional factors that the software cannot, like resident specific needs to always maintain safe staffing ratios.
