The Documents tab on a donor account is where you keep paperwork tied to that donor: signed gift agreements, endowment documents, correspondence, anything you want on the record rather than in someone's inbox.
Documents stored here are visible to administrators only. Donors do not see them in the Donor Portal.
Uploading a document
Open the donor's record and go to the Documents tab.
Drag files onto the upload area, or click to browse your computer.
The file appears in the list once the upload finishes.
Working with uploaded documents
Each document in the list gives you three actions:
Download opens or saves your copy of the file.
Notes lets you record what the document is and why it matters, which is worth doing for anything a colleague might open cold.
Delete removes the file permanently.
Donor documents or gift documents
There are two places to attach a file, and the right one depends on what the file is about.
Use the Documents tab on the donor account for anything that describes the relationship rather than a single transaction, such as a signed pledge agreement or endowment paperwork.
Use the Documents tab inside an individual gift for anything that evidences that one gift, such as a check image or a stock transfer confirmation.
Note: Any documents logged on a gift are visible on the general Documents tab within a donor.
