Configuring Donor Accounts

Benefits to creating Donor accounts:

  • Store donor information in AwardSpring (visible to administrators only)

  • Share public profiles that showcase donors’ generosity

  • Give donors access to a portal where they can view their scholarship recipients

Regardless of whether you plan to create Donor accounts for one or more of the above reasons, each Donor must have their own AwardSpring account. Don’t worry – you don’t need to give Donors access to their account if you choose not to, and they won’t be notified that you’ve created an account for them in AwardSpring unless you inform them.

Creating a Donor account

Navigate to the Donors tab, and select '+ Add New'.

Under the 'Role' dropdown menu, choose Donor, fill out the rest of the required fields, and click on 'Create User'.

Note: The only required field in this section is the donor's name. If you want a 'personal' donor account to have access to the Donor Portal, you'll also need to enter a valid email address. The email address is required so the donor can sign in and access their account.

The Donor will not receive a notification from AwardSpring when you create their account. If you wish to notify them that an account has been created, click the ‘Reset Password’ button on their account page.

Note that a number of additional tabs populate after you create the Donor account.

User Activity tab

Under this tab you will see any emails that have been sent to the Donor from AwardSpring.

Profile Tab
Optionally, use this tab to enter the Donor’s contact information under the 'Personal Information' and 'Address' sections.

Optionally, complete the Donor profile under the 'Public Profile' section. Use the Profile Type toggle to make the profile public or private. Public profiles will be visible via the 'Donors' tab on your AwardSpring homepage and in the applicant's logged in view.

Here is how a public Donor profile will appear under the Donors tab:

Associated Scholarships Tab

This tab lists the scholarships that the Donor is assigned to or associated with.

To assign a Donor to a scholarship, select the scholarship from the Scholarships tab. Scroll to the bottom of the Details tab, and under the Departments, Donors and Custom Fields section you'll be able to assign the appropriate Donor by selecting the search bar and typing in their name. Once you select their name, they will be assigned to the scholarship.

To assign another Donor, repeat the steps above. To remove a Donor, simply check the checkbox to the left of their name and then select the trash can icon.
