Donor Public Page

Donor Profiles

The Public Page tab controls the donor profile your students and site visitors can see. It is how you recognize a donor publicly, with their story alongside the scholarships they fund.

A donor account does not need a public profile. Plenty of donors are recorded in AwardSpring purely for internal tracking, and they stay hidden unless you choose otherwise.

Public or private

Open the donor's record and go to the Public Page tab. The profile type selector controls whether the profile is visible to site visitors on the logged-out page.

Private hides the donor. This is the default, and the tab shows nothing else until you change it.

Public reveals the Public card and Links panels, and publishes the profile under the Donors tab.

Building the public profile

Choose Public, then fill in the two panels that appear.

The last part of the profile's public URL, prefilled from the name. Edit it if you want something shorter or more recognizable.

Description

The donor's story. Supports bold, italic, lists and links.

Links

Optional links to the donor's Website, Facebook, X (Twitter) and LinkedIn. Leave any of them blank.

Click Save when you are done.

A few things worth getting right:

  • Write the description for site visitors, not for your team. It is often the only thing a someone learns about the person funding an award.

  • Use a photo where the donor has provided one. Cards with a photo are more likely to be opened and read.

  • Check the public full name reads the way the donor wants it, particularly for organizations and family funds.

What students and visitors see

Public profiles appear as cards under the Donors tab, showing the photo, public full name, company or organization, and the opening of the description. Visitors can search by donor or organization name, and sort the list alphabetically.

Clicking a card opens the donor's full profile at the web address you set.

Public Page and the Donor Portal

These are different things and are easy to confuse.

The Public Page is outward facing. It shows students and visitors who a donor is, and it needs no login.

The Donor Portal is inward facing for the donor. It lets them sign in and see their own recipients, and it requires a valid email address on their account.

A donor can have one, both, or neither.
