Default Award and Denial Templates

This article covers the default award and denial templates. For scholarship-specific award templates, see Custom Award Notification Templates.

We've generated default email templates to use during your awarding process. You can customize them to fit your needs. Let's learn how!

Navigation: Communications > Emails > Templates tab.

The Emails Templates tab, opened from Emails under Communications, listing the Default Award Notification and Default Denial Notification templates.

You'll notice two default templates:

  • Default Award Notification

  • Default Denial Notification

The Templates list with the two default awarding templates highlighted: Default Award Notification and Default Denial Notification.

Click the pencil icon on a template's row to open it for editing. The example below is for the Award template.

The Default Award Notification template open for editing, showing the Template Name, Subject and Message fields.

Template name

You can change the name of your default template in the Template name field in the panel on the right. Use the Notes field there to record what the template is for and when it should be used.

Subject

You'll generally want to avoid referencing any scholarship-specific details here, since the template will be used globally. However, if you do want to create individual/scholarship-specific award templates, click here to learn how.

Message

Some default text appears in the template, which can serve as your baseline. We strongly encourage you to use the toolbar to improve your template message.

When you've finished editing, click Save changes at the bottom of the screen. Click Discard changes to leave without saving.

Note: The default templates can be edited but not deleted, because they back your automated notifications.

Award and denial letters are sent from the Notify section of the scholarship's left menu (see Awarding: A Detailed Guide), using the template you choose there. Once you've sent an award or denial letter, you can view a copy of it under the student's Activity tab (Admin view):
