Overview
AwardSpring's modern admin dashboard is an updated, opt-in alternative to the legacy dashboard. It's designed to give you a richer, trend-aware view of your program — with year-over-year and cycle-over-cycle context built in — and to reflect AwardSpring's growth as a multi-pillar platform for scholarship, donor, and fund management.
The modern dashboard and the legacy dashboard coexist. You opt in when you're ready, and you can switch back at any time. Your preference is saved per user and persists across browsers and devices.
Note: The modern dashboard is available to admins with platform-wide access.
How to Switch to the Modern Dashboard
Log in to AwardSpring and navigate to the Dashboard from the main navigation.
On the legacy dashboard, locate the "Try the new dashboard" toggle.
Click it to switch to the modern dashboard.
Your preference is saved automatically. The next time you log in — from any browser or device — you'll land on the modern dashboard.
Switching Back
If you want to return to the legacy dashboard at any time:
On the modern dashboard, click "Switch back to the old dashboard" in the page header.
Your preference updates immediately.
Legacy and modern dashboards coexist indefinitely. Currently, there is no deadline to switch.
What's on the Modern Dashboard
The Three-Pillar Toggle
At the top of the modern dashboard is a toggle for AwardSpring's three core pillars: Scholarships / Donors / Funds.
This toggle reflects AwardSpring's evolution as a full platform — not just a scholarship tool. In the current release, the Scholarship Management view is fully live. The Donor Management and Fund Management views display "coming soon" panels and will be activated in future sprints.
Scholarship Management View
When Scholarships is selected in the toggle, the dashboard displays the following:
Stat Cards
Four stat cards appear at the top of the dashboard, each showing key program metrics with context for how performance compares over time.
Applicants Completed — The number of applicants who have fully completed their application this cycle, with year-over-year and cycle-over-cycle context
Applicants in Progress — The number of applicants who have started but not yet completed, with trend context
Two additional program-level metrics
The stat cards lead with people, not applications — reflecting how admins actually think about pipeline progress.
Review Progress & Funds Distributed
Two progress cards give you a visual read on where your cycle stands:
Review Progress — How far through the review process your current cycle is
Funds Distributed — How much of your available funding has been distributed
Application Timeline
A chart showing application activity over time, with two controls:
"Through:" selector — Toggle between Today (showing activity up to now) and Cycle End (showing the full cycle projection)
Deadline reference lines — Key cycle deadlines appear as vertical reference lines on the chart, so you can see application volume relative to your important dates
Recent Activity
A feed of recent activity in your portal, with a time-window filter so you can narrow the feed to the last day, week, or another range.
To-Do List
A card that surfaces your active tasks from the Task Board, giving you a quick view of pending work without leaving the dashboard.
Donor Management & Fund Management Views
The Donors and Funds views in the three-pillar toggle are currently placeholders. Selecting either pillar displays a "coming soon" panel. These views will be activated in future AwardSpring releases.
The toggle itself is live now so you can see the full platform structure and where AwardSpring is headed — the Donor and Fund dashboard experiences are built on this same framework.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I have to switch to the modern dashboard?
No. The modern dashboard is opt-in. The legacy dashboard remains fully available and there is no plan to remove it without advance notice. Switch when you're ready.
Will my team see the modern dashboard if I switch?
No. Dashboard preference is per user. Switching to the modern dashboard only affects your own view. Each admin on your team can choose independently.
Can I switch back after trying the modern dashboard?
Yes. Use the "Switch back to the old dashboard" option in the page header at any time.
What does "year-over-year" and "cycle-over-cycle" context mean on the stat cards?
Each stat card shows you the current number alongside a comparison: how the same metric looked at this point in the previous calendar year (year-over-year) and how it compares to the previous award cycle (cycle-over-cycle). This turns the dashboard from a snapshot into a trend story — you can see whether your program is growing, holding steady, or down relative to prior periods.
What does the Application Timeline "Through: Cycle End" option show?
It extends the chart to the end of your current award cycle, giving you a projected view of application volume through your close date rather than just through today.
The Donors and Funds pillar views show "coming soon" — when will they be available?
These views are planned for future AwardSpring sprints. When they're ready, they'll activate automatically in the toggle without requiring any additional setup from you.
Why does the stat card show "Applicants" rather than "Applications"?
The modern dashboard counts applicants (people) rather than applications (submissions). This reflects how most admins think about pipeline health — "how many students have completed?" rather than "how many application records exist?"
