Component Images

Updated over a year ago

This section is where you upload, caption and annotate all your visual assets for your Components.

Uploading Component Images

  • At the top of the Image page, opt to browse for assets or drag & drop them in directly

  • Acceptable file formats include: AI, PSD, JPG, PNG, PDF - TIFF Files are not accepted

    • PDF files may also be subject to compression/lower resolution after uploading.

  • New uploads display as thumbnails in the order in which they get uploaded

  • To maximize the image size output on your Tech Packs, we recommend cropping tightly around the image with as little extra white space as possible.

Managing Component Images

  • Hovering over an Image Thumbnail reveals multiple options:

    • Clicking the Star Icon sets your Default Image - the Default Image appears as the thumbnail throughout the app as well as the front page on your Component Tech Pack and within your BOM on your Product Tech Pack

    • Clicking the 3-dot Overflow Icon will open the Overflow Menu where you can set an image to inactive, export the image to save it to your PC, or view the original source image.

      • Inactive images don’t appear on Tech Packs, but can be restored at any time from within the Inactive Image Section that can be accessed via the dropdown at the top of the images area.

      • In the source file window that appears you have options to replace the image, download the source file, delete, and view version history for any changes made to your image within backbone or via our illustrator plugin.

    • Clicking the Edit button opens the Image Annotator

  • Images are captioned with the original file name by default; click the file name text to edit it

    • Note that Marker colors are hard-set for consistency, you cannot change these with the Paint tool

  • The Erase tool allows you to remove annotations from your Image

    • Select the tool and then click any annotation to erase it

  • The Pan tool allows you to pan the view within your workspace

  • The Save button executes a hard save of your annotations; this is only necessary after resizing elements within your workspace. Other changes all auto-save.
