Why was the Construction Detail Library removed?
Previously, Construction Details were housed and managed in the Construction Detail Library. Construction Details were dynamically linked to products, which meant that editing or deleting a Construction Detail in the Library would change product data. Construction Details did not list where they were used, so users could not disambiguate between one-off and standardized Construction Details.
This resulted in a few common issues:
Inability to create one-off Construction Details
Difficulty disambiguating search results within the Image Annotator
Inability to delete unused or outdated Construction Details
Inability to merge or delete duplicate Construction Details
Ultimately, the Construction Detail Library failed to effectively organize and standardize annotations, so our Product Team developed a better solution.
What replaces the Construction Detail Library?
Instead of managing Construction Details via the Construction Detail Library, these are now managed directly within the Image Annotator.
When adding Construction Details to an Image, previous Construction Details will display as suggested search results. Users may select one of the suggested Construction Details or click +Add to create a new one.
❗Quick Tip: Suggested Construction Details may be removed by clicking the (x).
Deleting a suggested Construction Detail removes the suggestion company-wide, but does not affect any existing product data.
By removing outdated Construction Details from the suggested search, companies can standardize their commonly used Construction Details over time.
UI Changes
The Construction Detail Library module is no longer listed on the Global Navigation Menu.
Construction Detail Markers now list the name of the user who added the marker and the date the marker was added.
Using the Feature
How to add a Construction Detail
Open the Image Annotator
Select the Construction Detail Marker from the left-hand menu
Place the marker on the image (either with a click or click-and-drag)
Search for the name of the Construction Detail
Select the matching item from the suggested results or click +Add New
Once the Construction Detail is added, its details will be listed in the right-hand column
How to remove a Construction Detail from search results
Open the Image Annotator
Select the Construction Detail Marker from the left-hand menu
Place the marker on the image (either with a click or click-and-drag)
Search for the Construction Detail
Click the (x) next to the Construction Detail you would like to remove
Note: Deleting a suggested Construction Detail applies company-wide.
How to delete a Construction Detail Marker from an image
Open the Image Annotator
In the right-hand column, click the Annotation you would like to delete
Click the 3-dot ellipsis and select Delete
How to edit a Construction Detail Marker
Open the Image Annotator
In the right-hand column, click the Construction Detail you would like to edit
You may replace the Construction Detail from one of the suggested options, or type the preferred text and select +Add New
Once updated, the new Construction Detail will be listed in the right-hand column
How will this affect existing data?
All previously saved Construction Details are still saved within the Image Annotator.
Construction Detail Names remain unchanged
Construction Detail Codes are not displayed on the new UI
Construction Detail Images are not displayed on the new UI
Construction Details that were saved in the Construction Detail Library will be converted into suggested results within Image Annotator.
