If you're looking to see your sample status, production progress, and some marketing metrics all in one place - then you're in luck! Within Backbone using the power of Item View Reports, Custom Fields, and CF Dividers you can set up your own Sample Tracker, Work in Progress Report, and/or Development Sheets!
This article will walk you through the steps to create an example, after that feel free to get creative and begin adding your own custom fields for maximum visibility!
First we need to create a group of custom fields that we might want to track:
Enter the Admin Section from the Global Nav ⚙️
In the Control Panel, click on Create Custom Fields
At the top right click on + Add Divider and name it WiP, Sample Tracking, etc.
For this example we'll use the section for Products
Click on the Plus Icon at the bottom right to create new Custom Fields
In the drop downs select the Products section and then the Custom Field Divider you created should appear in the next drop down - Choose that one.
Then we name whatever it is we're tracking.
Examples could be: SKU, Quarter, Wholesale, Retail, etc.
Select the type of input you'll use for this custom field
Text, Dropdown, Date, etc
Then for this example mark the Public Fields and All Categories checkboxes ✅
Rinse and Repeat for other custom fields you want to track
Next, we want to make an Item View Report, this will be our actual document that keeps track of the custom fields we created.
Enter the Item Views Library from the Global Nav 🏷
Make sure the tab for Products is selected in the top left of the library
Click on the + Views button in the top right to start the creation process
Name your report based on your needs
For this example we'll toggle the Add Products section into Manual Mode
Then click on the checkboxes for the products you wish to add
Upon clicking Generate View you'll be taken to your report.
Now we'll add your Custom Fields - click on the Columns button
Scroll down to find your WiP Custom Field Divider toggle its checkbox ✅
Fill in your report and move the columns around if necessary via click and drag.
When you're done you can export using the Export to CSV button.
Voilà - you now have a totally custom report you can use for WiPs, Development, Sample Tracking, etc. If you want to share your report be sure to use the Share Icon found in the top right of the report. Example Below:
PRO TIP: Although Backbone doesn't have notifications you can create custom fields that serve as a "Call to Action". An example would be creating a checkbox/text/dropdown field for a custom field labeled "Designs handed off?". In that space your teammates would then fill in with a ☑️, YES/NO, or T/F.
