It’s recommended to always display either Color Name or Color Custom Code, if not both, as these give more useful context to the Variant Numbers.

FAQs
Why can’t I configure a Line Sheet report based on a Color Variant level Custom Field?
Since you may have a different value for each Color Variant of a Product, if you configured a report based on a Variant level Custom Field, only some Variants would match the criteria of the report
This would make the report ineligible for Product Mode
We felt it wouldn’t be a great user experience to have some reports with Product Mode and other reports without it
When you want to look at a Product assortment tied to a particular Color Variant level attribute, use a Line Sheet that is configured a bit more broadly, and then leverage the in-report filter system in Variant Mode to refine your results as needed
Note that PDF exports respect the filters you have set at the time of download
Why can’t I include Color Internal and External Code fields in a Product Mode Line Sheet?
All of a Product’s Color Variants must be listed on a single Card when your Line Sheet is in Product Mode
The Variants are listed as lozenges, with their Variant Number, and, typically*, either the “No Color Assigned” text or the following data (when a Color Swatch is assigned):
Color Chip
Color Name
Color Custom Code (if available)
Note you may toggle Color Name and Color Custom Code off if you wish; but the variant numbers will always display. It’s recommended to always display either Color Name or Color Custom Code, if not both, as these give more useful context to the Variant Numbers.
Incorporating Color Internal Code and Color External Code would impact the legibility of the list
Switch to Variant Mode if you need to reference your Color Internal Code or Color External Code in the Line Sheet
What are the rules dictating the Product Color Variant Image that I see?
You can assign one or more unique images to each Product Color Variant within the Images section of the Product record
Whichever image you put in the first position within the Color Variant section will serve as the “hero” image for the Variant - mapping to the Line Sheet in Color Variant Mode
If you have not assigned an image to your Product Color Variant within the Images section of the Product, the Line Sheet will display the default image for the Product in its place
If you have not assigned a default image to the Product, either, a placeholder image will represent the Variant (and the Product) in the Line Sheet
