How do I set up API client credentials in Kno2?

Log into kno2.prod.barti.com as an admin, go to Settings → Organization → API Settings, click Create Client Credentials, copy and store the key and secret securely, then enable the service account and add your integration's IP addresses.

Who this is for: Kno2 administrators setting up a system integration with Kno2 via a service account.

Before you start, you'll need:

  • Admin access to your Kno2 organization

  • The public IP address(es) of the server that will be connecting to Kno2 (provided by your EMR or the system integrating with Kno2)

Steps

  1. Log in at kno2.prod.barti.com as an administrator.

  2. Click the gear icon to open Settings, then select Organization.

  3. Scroll to the API Settings section.

  4. Click Create Client Credentials.

  5. A confirmation modal appears. Click Create Client Credentials for [your Kno2 instance] to continue.

  6. Your key and secret are generated. Click Copy Credentials to copy them to your clipboard, then paste and store them in a secure location. You will not be able to retrieve the secret again after closing this modal.

  7. Click Disabled so that it toggles to show Enabled, activating the service account.

  8. Enter the public IP address(es) provided by your EMR or integrating system.

  9. Click Save IP Addresses.

  10. (Optional) Click + Add Service Account if you need multiple service accounts.

What you'll see when it works

The service account appears as Enabled in the API Settings section. The integrating system can now authenticate with Kno2 using the client credentials and IP address(es) you configured.

Troubleshooting

I closed the modal before copying my credentials.

The secret cannot be retrieved after the modal is closed. You'll need to generate a new set of credentials.

My integration can't connect even though the service account is enabled.

Confirm the IP address entered in Kno2 matches the public IP address of the server making the connection. If you're unsure of the correct IP, check with the team managing your EMR or integrating system. If the issue continues, contact support@kno2.com.
