About Pulse activity presets
Users with the requisite permissions (commonly admins and managers) create Pulse presets globally and therefore independent of specific courses. The configured actions of a preset can just take place, when a Pulse activity using the preset is created. Once a Pulse activity is created from a preset, the resulting activity becomes independent of the preset. Any subsequent changes made to the preset will not affect the created Pulse activity.
To manage Pulse presets and see the presets list go to Site administration > Plugins > Pulse > Manage presets.
Using Pulse activity presets
When creating a new Pulse, you can use one of the available presets. Each preset is displayed, showing the following information, when available: preset icon, title, description, and configurable parameters. Clicking “Use preset” will open a modal window.
Here, you can directly edit the settings of all configurable parameters and then choose how to apply the preset.
Apply and customize: This applies all changes made to the configurable parameters and will open the Pulse activity’s settings with the applied changes and the inherited settings from the preset. Here, all settings can be adapted.
Apply and save: This applies all changes made to the configurable parameters and will create the Pulse activity without further customization of the inherited settings from the preset.
Each setting that is not manually overwritten for the Pulse activity will be inherited from the preset. When not using a preset, all settings must be configured manually below.
Pulse activity preset list
The preset list provides an overview of all existing presets including their most important attributes and settings. The functionality of all elements and attributes in this area is detailed below.
Create preset
Clicking on ‘Create preset’ will open the editor for creating a new Pulse preset.
Title
The title of the preset should provide a short explanation of its purpose.
Description
The description should provide information relevant to the preset beyond its title.
Configurable parameters
These parameters will be displayed in the modal window when selecting a preset for quick configuration before applying it. The customization of a preset is not limited to these configurable parameters.
Preset template
The preset template is the backup file of the Pulse activity on which the preset is based. Clicking the preset template allows you to download the file.
Status
The status determines whether a preset is enabled or disabled. A disabled preset will not appear in the Pulse presets when creating a new Pulse activity. This setting does not affect already existing Pulse activities.
Order
Changes to the order in the preset list will also affect the order in which the presets are displayed in the presets overview when creating a new Pulse activity.
Action
Gear icon: Clicking on it opens the settings of a preset.
