About the Pulse activity

The Pulse activity and its architecture

Updated over 3 months ago

Pulse activities can be placed anywhere within the course content, just like any other module. This offers precise control over when and where actions, such as sending notifications or awarding credits, are triggered. As a result, you can create highly customized learning experiences that adapt to each student’s progress.

Additionally, Pulse activities can be marked as complete simply by becoming available. This feature unlocks a wide range of possibilities, especially when combined with availability restrictions.

The built-in confirmation for activity completion enables you to add consent statements, approval requests, or informational texts that require explicit confirmation from the student.

Pulse presets

To simplify the creation and management of activities, presets with pre-configured settings for Pulse activities can be saved and reused.

The Pulse plugin comes with preconfigured presets. The XML file includes all presets that are added during installation. You can edit this file to install only the presets that are relevant to your specific needs.

To manage Pulse presets and see the presets list go to Site administration > Plugins > Pulse > Manage presets.

Settings of the Pulse activity

In the global settings, you'll find some configurations related to the Pulse activity. All other settings for the module can be configured directly within it. If any settings are based on standard Moodle configurations, you will be directed to the official Moodle documentation for further details.
