About file structure
Kickstart consists of two parts:
Kickstart Basic (plugin type:
format_kickstart
)Kickstart Pro (plugin type:
local_kickstart_pro
)
When downloading Kickstart Pro from your bdecent account, the ZIP file contains both Kickstart Basic and Kickstart Pro and must be unpacked before installation.
This guide describes installation using the Moodle plugin installer. You can also install plugins manually by uploading them to your server. Kickstart Basic is also available through the Moodle plugins directory.

Install Kickstart Basic
Download the installation package from your bdecent account or the Moodle plugins repository.
If the downloaded file has 'unzipme' in its name, unpack it to access the
format_kickstart
ZIP file.Go to Site administration > Plugins > Install plugins in Moodle.
Upload the
format_kickstart
ZIP file and complete the installation process.
Install Kickstart Pro
Kickstart Basic needs to be installed before installing Kickstart Pro.
Download the installation package from your bdecent account.
Unpack the downloaded ZIP file and locate the
local_kickstart
ZIP file.Go to Site administration > Plugins > Install plugins in Moodle.
Upload the
local_kickstart
ZIP file and complete the installation process.
Note: Kickstart Basic and Kickstart Pro must always be on the same version.
After installation
Check Site administration > Plugins > Plugins > Plugins overview to verify that all plugins are installed correctly.
Review the global settings to configure default behavior for your site.
Compatibility
The Kickstart plugin is officially compatible with Moodle versions 4.4 and 4.5. While other versions may work perfectly, they have not been tested.
