Initial configuration of Kickstart

First steps for the administrator or manager after installation of Kickstart

After installing Kickstart (Basic or Pro), it works out of the box. However, to align with your institution’s workflows and avoid confusion for course creators and teachers, it is highly recommended to review and adjust the global settings.

Note: The following settings have the biggest impact on how Kickstart behaves. You can access all settings under Site administration > Plugins > Course formats > Kickstart format > General settings.


Kickstart Basic

After installing Kickstart Basic, you can configure the following:

  • Decide whether existing course content should be deleted or merged when applying a template.

  • Provide default guidance for course creators, teachers, and students.

  • Define whether users, groups, and enrolment methods should be restored with a template.


Kickstart Pro

With Kickstart Pro, you gain access to additional features:

To prevent confusion, communicate these behaviors clearly to course creators and teachers – especially how templates affect existing content.
