About

The external services settings of Consent Manager list all external services. Depending on your global configuration, external services are used to whitelist or blacklist specific domains when their content is embedded.

You can find these settings under Site administration > Users > Privacy and policies > External services.

External services table

Consent Manager comes with three external services preinstalled. All of them are disabled by default.

  • Google Maps

  • Vimeo

  • YouTube

All external services are listed in a table with the following columns:

  • Service name

  • Description

  • Service image

  • Domains

  • Policy

  • Actions

    • Eye icon – Enable or disable a service.

    • Pen icon – Open the settings of a service.

    • Bin icon – Delete a service.

The button "Add new service" lets you create a custom external service for your own requirements.

Settings of external services

  • Service name

Adding a name to an external service is mandatory.

  • Description

The description can help further clarify the use of the external service beyond its name.

  • Service image

Add an image to the service for easier identification (e.g. the Vimeo logo).

  • Internal notes

Internal notes are not displayed to students. They can be used for administrative purposes (e.g. notes from the privacy officer of an institution).

  • Domains

Add the domains this external service should apply to. If you add multiple domains, separate them with a comma (e.g. vimeo.com, player.vimeo.com). At least one domain is required.

  • Required policy

Add a required policy if you want to require consent before loading content from the added domains.

  • Status

Enable or disable the external service.

Note:

  • If you are using Consent Manager in blacklist mode, external services are used to configure domains so their content is only loaded after consent to a required policy has been given.

  • If you are using Consent Manager in whitelist mode, external services are used to configure which domains are allowed to load content. A required policy is optional.
