Social Comments is a block that enables interactive communication within Moodle by allowing students and teachers to post comments and replies directly on course pages. Key capabilities include configuring subscriptions for comment updates, pinning important discussions to a centralized pin board, and tracking engagement with automated reports.
Architecture
The Social Comments plugin is composed of four main structural components:
Block – The visual component placed within courses or activities where users view, add, and reply to comments.
Pinboard – A dedicated dashboard within a course that displays a curated view of all pinned comments.
Comments report – A searchable reporting interface providing an overview of all comment activity and engagement data.
Digest – The background system that processes subscriptions and bundles new comment notifications into periodic email updates.
