Table of Contents:

Inviting a new Individual Contributor

  1. Click on Users in the navigational menu

  2. In the top right corner, click Invite User.

  3. Fill in the User Invitation form

    1. User Type should be set to Contributor

    2. Division should be set to Forbes Company for US, Europe for UK

Note: This is where you would select Profile Only for contributors who don’t need Bertie access but need a byline on Forbes.com. (Toggling ON will disable the email field)

Setting Up Their Profile

  1. Either click Edit their Profile after inviting the new contributor or click on Users in the navigational menu

  2. Click the contributor’s name to open their Profile.

  3. Fill out the required fields (more details below)

  4. Save your changes

  5. Add a profile photo: Click the pencil icon next to the Profile Image, select a photo, crop the photo (if needed), and click Save.

  6. Set up the Payment Settings

    1. For most contributors, that means Paid for Payment Status and Schedule RL for Contributor Payment Schedule. You will add the Vendor Number later when you receive it from Accounts Payable. (The Department and Vendor Numbers are generated after the contributor publishes at least five posts in a month.)

    2. Note: Payment settings appear when the User Type is Contributor and will not appear for Forbes Staff.

  7. Add a Short Bio and an About section.

    1. A Short Bio should be 70 characters or fewer (including spaces) and be written in the first person, starting with “I.” The About section is the long bio — up to about 150 words.

  8.  Update the editorial toggles accordingly

    1. Toggle on Senior Contrib if applicable

  9. Add any Social Info if applicable

  10. Save your changes

Self-Onboarding

As part of a new initiative, once a new user first logs into Bertie they will be asked for fill out the rest of their profile. These include their Name, Short Bio (What You Cover), About, and Social Media Info. This step is optional.
