Connecting an Android device might involve a few extra steps to ensure everything is running smoothly. Let's make sure it's as easy as possible for you to set up!

Health Connect + BetterYou

Health Connect lets us log your steps progress towards your steps goal. If you have any other wearable devices such as Fitbit that you use to track your steps, you need to connect them to Health Connect in order for those steps to be logged within the BetterYou app.

Step 1

Determine if your device runs on Android 14 or newer (Android 14 was released Oct 4, 2023). Android 14+ has Health Connect prebuilt into your phone. If your operating system is older than that, you'll need to download Health Connect from the Google Play Store.

Step 2

Once you have Health Connect on your device, make sure to grant Google Fit and/or any other wearable device permission to access Health Connect. You can do that by opening Health Connect in your phone's Settings (type in "Health Connect" in the search bar), and go to App Permissions. If Google Fit or Fitbit already granted access, then it will show up under "Allowed access", if not it will show up under "Not allowed access" and you'll need to select the app and tap "Allow all".

Step 3

After Google Fit and any other wearable is successfully connected to Health Connect, go into the BetterYou app. Go to Profile > Wearables > Google Fit > Connect Google Fit. Select an account to connect Google Fit to, and you're all set to go.

If you have questions related to the other Android permissions required for BetterYou to run properly, please refer to this article.
