Borrow Requests

Bipty is an SMS-first platform. When you get a Borrow Request you will receive automated notifications allowing you to accept or decline the request.

This text will include information like your ship out date, your earnings, and a guide on the next steps to fulfill your Borrow.

Please note the Borrow Request message comes from an automated number, if you have questions or would like to request a different ship-out date, contact our team via the live chat button on the site.

Before Shipping

Cleaning & Condition

All pieces MUST be freshly laundered and in good condition prior to shipping out. Nothing is worse than unboxing a package you’re so excited to wear only to realize it’s not clean!

Before shipping, run through these cleanliness steps:

  1. The Sniff Test - is your item free of perfumes and odors? You are going for scentless. Please do not spray items with any fresheners or perfumes prior to packing.

  2. Inspect - Carefully analyze the item’s condition and take a look over the entire item inside and out. Does your piece have food or makeup stains? Are there any holes or snags?

In the event the Borrower submits a claim regarding the cleanliness or condition of the item and you are not able to provide sufficient proof of the item’s condition prior to shipping out through photos or receipts, Bipty reserves the right to cancel payment.

Repeat offending Lenders who fail to ship clean items on time risk having their Lender account deactivated.

Documenting the Condition

Take clear photos of the item’s condition front, back, and inside before sending out the piece. In the event a claim is submitted or damage occurs, we will use these timestamped photos as supporting evidence.

This precaution protects you as a Lender, don’t forget this step for every single Borrow.

Printing the Label

We provide Lenders with a pre-paid shipping and return label for each Borrow. This label is emailed to you within 5 days of your ship date from yourfriends@bipty.io.

Packing

  1. Pack your piece in a bubble or poly-mailer that is 9x12 inches or smaller. If your package is larger or weighs more than 1 pound contact us via the live chat button on the site for an upgraded label to avoid your item getting lost in transit.

  2. Protect your piece during shipping by wrapping it in tissue paper or a dust bag. This also shows the Borrower that it is delicate and reduces the chances of damage.

  3. Attach the ship out label (the one with the Borrower's name on it) securely to the front of the package. Place the return label (the one with your name on it) inside the package. Double check that you aren’t shipping out with the return label 😉

Include a personal note to the Borrower sharing any anecdotes about the piece and care instructions. This reminds the Borrower that your item belongs to a real person and reduces damages.

Shipping

On the morning of your ship out date take your piece to the local UPS store and take a picture of the tracking receipt. In the event of a lost shipment we will reference this photo for your claim.

If you are not able to ship out in time, please contact our team immediately so that we may find a solution by either extending your ship date or finding the Borrower a new piece.

DO NOT ship out via USPS or dropbox. All returns MUST be made via UPS.

Items dropped off at USPS, in a dropbox, or otherwise without a tracking receipt are not eligible for shipping coverage in the event the package is lost in transit.

Back to Back Borrows

Congrats on turning your expense into an asset! We're here to support you in creating your closet empire. For orders that are back-to-back or have a super tight turnaround time, we have you covered! We can upgrade your shipping label free of charge. Simply stay in communication with us and we'll support you through the process to ensure your pieces arrive to the Borrowers on time.

Upon Return

Cleaning

Your item will arrive back unwashed to prevent unnecessary accidental damages that often occur in the wash. This way you can also clean the item how you like using the cleaning fee you set during submission.

If you have a back-to-back Borrow, please clean your piece promptly to prepare for your next Borrow.

Payouts

Payouts are processed every Thursday through our secure payment parter, Stripe. More on that here.

Inspect for Damages

Upon arrival, inspect the piece and report any damages within 3 days of the return using the chatbot button on the site. If you discover any damage, please contact us for help. Review our damages policy here.
