Please note: The following feature is available for all of Birdie’s packages.

Adding next of kin (NoK) and emergency contact details to Birdie is really important as family and friends have such an integral role in delivering person-centred care. Their involvement can range from decision-making to simply reading care plans and care notes.

How to add a NoK

Start by selecting the Care Recipient from the Client tab and click on the About me tab on the left-hand side, now click Key Contacts.

Now you can add all the details of the NoK, emergency contact or other contact such as:

  • Name

  • Relationship (to the care recipient)

  • Phone number

  • Email

  • Type of contact (Emergency, NoK)

  • Whether they make best-interest decisions

Please note: If you receive an error trying to save a number on this page, this is most likely because the number is already on the Birdie system. Please reach out to the Support team who will be able to resolve this issue for you.

How to add a NoK to the care circle app

Once you have added this information about the NoK, they will automatically be added to the Care Circle section. Here you can choose to invite them to download the Birdie family app. For more information on this please see this article - The Care Circle Birdie app for family and friends

How to edit or remove a NoK

If you need to remove a NoK you can do this via the Care Circle tab. start by going to the care recipients' Care circle tab and selecting the person you would like to remove. From here click Remove.

From this page, you can also edit their information if needed.

They will no longer show as a NoK on the Birdie app or have access to the family app.

How to add the same NOK to more than one Care Recipient

If you try to add a NOK who already exists on Birdie you will see an alert appear like in the image below.

On Birdie, you can only use a number once, this is how we verify a person's identity. This means you will not be able to add these numbers yourself, however, the support team can add them for you and link a person to multiple accounts.

Please get in touch with us using our support chat. You can find support by clicking on the green icon on the bottom left-hand side of the Agency Hub.
