How do I upload CSV files or the Blockpit Excel template?

If automatic synchronization is not available for your exchange or wallet—or if you want to add missing transactions—you can easily import your data via file. Blockpit supports both direct exchange CSVs (unmodified original files) and our standardized Blockpit Excel template.

How do I upload my CSV or Excel file?

To avoid errors and duplicate integrations, follow one simple principle: Every upload belongs directly inside its corresponding integration.

Path A (Recommended): Upload into an existing integration

Use this path for all exchanges or wallets/blockchains that already exist in your dashboard—or when you want to add supplementary transactions:

  1. In the Dashboard, go to Integrations.

  2. On the desired integration, click directly on the Upload icon (cloud with an upward arrow) next to the Sync button.

    • In the dialog window that appears, select the appropriate tab:

      • CSV: For unmodified original files (only visible if the exchange supports direct CSV upload).

      • Blockpit Template: For importing via our Excel template. Download the template, enter your data manually (labels currently in English only!), and upload the file.

🔎 Column B (Integration Name) is completely ignored:

When uploading directly via the Upload icon of an existing integration, Column B is completely ignored. Please ensure you only upload transactions that actually belong to this specific integration.

  3. Click Next to complete the import.

Path B: Create a new integration

If your exchange or wallet has not yet been set up as an integration in your Blockpit account:

  1. In the Dashboard, navigate to Integrations and click on + Integration.

  2. Choose your option:

    • Listed Exchange: Search for your exchange or wallet and, depending on the file used, upload it directly under the CSV tab (if available) or the Blockpit Template tab.

      • CSV: For unmodified original files (only visible if the exchange supports direct CSV upload).

      • Blockpit Template: For importing via our Excel template. Download the template, enter your data manually (labels currently in English only!), and upload the file.

    • Unlisted Platform (Direct Upload): Select Blockpit Excel in the filter bar, assign a name, and upload the completed template directly. The new integration will be created automatically during import.

⚠️ Critical note regarding Column B (Integration Name):

In Column B of the Excel template, enter the exact same name you want this integration to have.

Warning: If you enter the name of an already existing integration by mistake, the transactions will be imported into that existing integration!

    • Alternative via "Manual Integration" (Recommended for maximum control):

Create a Manual Integration, name it after your platform, and click „Next" without uploading a file. This creates an empty placeholder in your Dashboard, allowing you to use Path A via the Upload icon (Column B in the Excel template will be ignored).

How do I transfer CSV/Excel data into the Blockpit Excel template?

  1. Download template: Download the Blockpit Excel template. Save a copy in Google Sheets or download the template as an .xlsx file for Microsoft Excel.

  2. Enter data (Required fields): Transfer your transactions row by row using the sample rows as a guide. Make sure to fill in the correct side depending on the transaction type (Incoming Asset for deposits/inflows, Outgoing Asset for withdrawals/outflows). The columns Fee Asset, Fee Amount, Comment, and Trx. ID are optional.

⚠️ Important note on transaction types / labels:

For the transaction type (column Transaction Type / Label), preferably use the predefined English original terms from the dropdown menu (e.g., Deposit, Withdrawal, Trade, Gift, Staking, etc.).

The columns Fee Asset, Fee Amount, Comment, and Trx. ID are optional.

  3. Formatting & timestamp requirements:

    • Timestamp: Use UTC timestamps in the format DD.MM.YYYY hh:mm:ss for all entries.

    • Decimal separator: Consistently use either a comma or a dot throughout the entire file.

    • 💡 Formatting tips: If numbers or dates display incorrectly, set the columns to Plain Text first or switch your spreadsheet app's locale setting to English.

✂ Need help splitting data into multiple columns? This Google Sheets Guide & Excel Guide can help you format your data.

  4. Multiple integrations in one file (Column B): When uploading via Path B (Blockpit Excel), you can bundle transactions from different platforms into a single file. In Column B (Integration Name), use the exact spelling of the desired integration.

(⚠️ Note: When uploading via Path A, Column B is ignored).

  5. Upload & Asset Review: Upload the completed .xlsx file. In the next screen, review the automatically matched assets, adjust any incorrectly identified assets if necessary, and confirm by clicking Next.

  6. 💡 Post-import verification: Sort your transaction list by Latest imported (and filter by the affected integration if needed) to review the result immediately. For large histories, we recommend importing data step by step as a test.

📁 Automatic duplicate detection for file uploads

Our importer automatically compares new uploads against existing CSV, Excel, and manually created transactions, preventing duplicate entries.

✂ Focus on overlapping timeframes: For integrations with existing Exchange (API) or Bockchain transactions, data is technically not matched automatically. Please remove already synchronized timeframes from your file prior to uploading to avoid duplicate transactions.
