Marking / Setting the Review Status of Transactions

With the review status feature, you can specifically mark transactions and document which entries have already been reviewed and which are still pending.

This helps you keep track of new, synchronized, or edited transactions at all times, even when using many wallets, exchanges, or trading frequently.

The feature is available in the “Transactions” section.

Important: What does “reviewing” a transaction mean?

Reviewing a transaction does NOT simply mean marking it as “reviewed” in Blockpit; rather, it requires that you compare the transaction with the original source, for example using:

  • your exchange

  • your wallet

  • a blockchain explorer

  • or the original transaction history

Setting the review status is only the result of this comparison process.

❗ Simply setting the status to “Marked as Reviewed” does not automatically correct potentially incorrect or incomplete transactions.

A transaction should therefore only be marked as reviewed after it has actually been compared with the original source.

Marking a Single Transaction

You can set the review status directly on an individual transaction using the bookmark icon.

⬛ Default state → “Unmarked” (Click 3 to "Unmark")

🟨 Click 1 → “Marked for Review” (yellow)

🟩 Click 2 → “Marked as Reviewed” (green – final state)

What does “Marked for Review” mean?

The yellow status is useful for transactions that you want to review more closely later.

Examples:

  • recently synchronized trades

  • complex DeFi or NFT transactions

  • suspicious or incomplete imports

  • transactions with warnings or tips

  • cases where additional data still needs to be added

What does “Marked as Reviewed” mean?

The green status means that you compared the transaction with the original data from your exchange, wallet, or blockchain and confirmed it as correct.

Typically, you review:

  • asset, amount, timestamp, fees, transaction label, tax treatment

The review status therefore acts as a personal quality control system for your transaction history.

Marking Multiple Transactions at Once

You can also select and mark multiple transactions simultaneously using the checkbox selection.

  1. Select transactions

  2. Open the action menu (...)

  3. Set the review status

This is especially useful:

  • after larger API synchronizations

  • for CSV imports

  • when initially building your transaction history

  • or when reviewing older transaction batches

Filtering by Review Status

Using the “View” filter, you can filter transactions by review status.

Available states:

  • Unmarked (Count)

  • Marked for Review (Count)

  • Marked as Reviewed (Count)

This allows you to:

  • find unreviewed transactions more quickly

  • work through transactions that still require verification

  • hide already reviewed transactions when focusing only on open items

  • more easily identify newly imported or recently synchronized transactions

Recommended Best Practice

The feature works best as an ongoing review workflow directly after new transactions occur.

Recommended process:

  1. Execute a trade or transaction

  2. Synchronize the integration in Blockpit

  3. Compare the imported transaction with your exchange or wallet

  4. Edit or complete the transaction if necessary

  5. Afterwards, set the appropriate review status

This gradually creates a fully reviewed transaction history.

Ideally, most of your history should eventually be marked green. This makes newly imported or unreviewed transactions immediately visible and easier to verify early.

Especially for active traders or complex portfolios, this helps to:

  • detect import problems faster

  • complete missing data earlier

  • avoid tax-related mistakes

  • and maintain a clean and reliable transaction history long-term.
